Research
Tom leads the Respiratory Research Unit at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where his team studies cutting-edge treatments for people with lung disease.
He is also part of the world-leading Flinders University sleep research team developing customised treatments for people with sleep apnea. This includes development of new drug treatments for sleep apnea, which formed a key part of Tom’s PhD.
His research into shortness of breath won the New Investigator Award at the 2023 World Sleep Congress in Brazil, and was published in the prestigious American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
A main goal of Tom’s research is to improve our understanding of how these common conditions cause symptoms, in order to develop safer, more effective treatments in the future.
